Dr. Theresa Alenghat Receives Dr. Margaret K. Hostetter Endowed Chair

Congratulations to Theresa Alenghat, VMD, PhD on receiving this year’s Margaret K. Hostetter Endowed Chair. The Chair was established to honor Dr. Hostetter’s legacy by recognizing female faculty who have developed and sustained outstanding research careers. Dr. Alenghat was chosen for this honor in recognition of her sustained research excellence and advocacy for the advancement of women in academic medicine.

Dr. Alenghat is an Associate Professor in the Division of Immunobiology in the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine’s Department of Pediatrics who is an internationally recognized expert investigating how intestinal cells recognize and respond to microbiota to promote immune tolerance, while at the same time directing defense against pathogens. Her lab’s studies have led to new perspectives into how host-microbiota dynamics direct mucosal immunity and inflammation.
